On the morning of September 8, 1944, Abt. 444 Batterie fired the first two V2 rockets on Paris from this position in Belgium near the tiny village of Sterpigny. One of the missiles failed; the other V2 impacted in the District of Maisons-Alfort at 35 Rue des Sapins in the south-east area of Paris: six people were killed and 36 were wounded. In the evening of the same day, 485 Abteilung launched a V-2 from Wassenar, Holland. This rocket hit Staveley Road, Chiswick, London at 18:44. Three were killed, 19 injured.
