The most hilarious thing happened to me looking for this. I couldn't see who the statue was supposed to be, but it made me think of a famous character with a raincoat and a dog, and I was going to post a little gag of mine, as a joke, with a photo of that character and his dog, and a comment like "I could only find this one" ha ha, and I googled for photos of it, planning to pick a good one to post, and in the results... I saw the statue!!! In fact, the character I had thought of for the gag was it!

I laughed but I felt stupid too!

What I need is a clue to how to find it without a clue.

This is the statue of Peter Falk or Columbo with his dog. Of course, he is a worldwide phenomenon but there is a special reason why he stands exactly on this spot in Budapest:
There is a long-running urban legend (refuted from time to time) that Peter Falk has family roots in Hungary and is a descendant of Miksa Falk, a Hungarian journalist/writer. (Wikipedia says Peter Falk has Hungarian roots on his mother's side which makes it quite unlikely Falk being a very rare name in Hungary)
Now, Columbo's statue is placed at the corner of the Grand Boulevard (as we call it) and Miksa Falk Street.
