After 7.3.x was released some people were not longer able to use Google Earth. The workaround was to downgrade to 7.1.8, and while that works there's the downside of losing Street View functionality.
If you're having this problem (7.3.x crashing on launch with ''Google Earth has encountered a problem and needs to close'') then try this solution which worked for me.
First off you'll need Chrome (or another chromium based browser) installed. Make sure its up-to-date.
Navigate to Chrome's installation directory. Inside there should be a folder matching Chrome's version number (mines 98.0.4758.82 for reference). Open it, and then go into the folder called "swiftshader". There should be two files, libEGL.dll and libGLESv2.dll. Copy both.
Now head to Google Earth's install folder, then client, alchemy and finally the ogles20 folder. Paste the files we copied earlier in here. Tell Windows to replace the existing versions with the new ones.
Ok, almost done. One final step. Run the Google Earth Repair Tool (inside the Google Earth folder) and change the graphics renderer to DirectX if it's not set to that already.
And that's it. Try to run GE and see if it works. I got 7.3.4 running perfectly this way with Street View and all.
