Sometimes known as the 'School of Aerial Fighting' this aerodrome was constructed in 1917 and opened in 1918 as a RFC training site. It consisted or 282 acres (114 hectares), 12 hangars (one still exists) and Curtis JN4 Canuck training aircraft. The facility was home to 1000 trainees and 400 officers. Advanced gunnery, photography and map reading were on the curriculum. The Jennys were not armed but were equipped with camera guns. Set the time slider to 1934. www.niagarathisweek.com/whatson-story/4287401-wings-of-war-over-beamsville/This video contains some interesting contemporary photographs.
