It may sound weird but it is true. Gömleksiz Köprüsü (Bridge of/over Shirt-less (or Cover-less)) constructed in 1936 was damaged during the flood the area suffered in 1978 and got out of service. A number of days ago, the gendarme officials realized the remainders of the bridge were wiped off, checked out the security cameras around, and found out that a scrap dealer had packed every block away using two heavy machineries and trucks. It came out in the inquisition that they did not do the operation secretly. Locals around were aware of the 4-day clearing work however since they thought it was some work carried out by the authorities, they did not report it. It is also reported that the alleged criminal was so dull and dizzy that they attempted to turn the public property to their personal cash even though their application to recycle the remainders to regain the irons had been rejected. 70 tons of iron is said they regained and sold for approximately USD 35,000. It is often said that if you look like you're meant to be there, anyone seeing you will assume that you should be. He rolled in with all the right equipment and looked like he was employed to do the job. That takes some nerve.

he took the deck away, taking away the asphalt and concrete, to get the I or H beams in it. The pylons remain, as they are mostly concrete See

A story I am familiar with and visited this place. The Jones Bridge built in 1904, was an iron bridge that crossed the Chattahoochee River in Georgia. It connected two different counties and replaced a ferry service. Story goes that when the bridge needed repairs, neither county wanted to help pay for those repairs, so it was closed around 1940. Then as the story goes, men dressed as official construction workers, dismantled half of the iron bridge before it was discovered that the work was actually men stealing the iron. Only half of the bridge remained after discovery and that half was finally dismantled for safety.
