Hi Folks. Not sure if you heard, but there's the legend of Norumbega. Here's a link to an article about it. A year or so ago, I came across this place: 45° 41' 50.0756" N, 66° 15' 06.9985" W As you can see, there are dozens of mounded areas. Altogether, over a hundred. Legend says it was on the Penobscot river. This is drawn from the Ortelius maps, etc... However... What if they got the wrong river, and mixed them up? It might rather have been west of the St. John's river? I contacted the right university, and while they found it interesting, there was little that they could do because the area is in military grounds. So, I contacted the Canadian Military, but never got a response. I did tell them to ask the logging guys operating in the area to keep their eyes open though. Who knows? Maybe they might find something? The structure are definitely stone in nature as in this situation I always check for logging piles, etc... I found a few, but in no matching locations. Anyhow, I thought it was interesting enough to make a post about it. Feel free to look around and see if you can find any more! Cheers.

Interesting theory as exciting mound-spottings as well!
Only I would need the LIDAR overlay you used when taken snapshot image! (it is not the network-link kml of the Carolina bay Survey...) - Have I missed something I wonder?

Use Firefox to open the link. Chrome can be a bit fussy loading it up. I tried attaching the link, but it won't work. You have to be in the website first. You want the 1m DTM (Not DSM), just left of "Pleasant Villa".

Okay...
So, load the page up. Open google earth and familiarize yourself with the location. Go back to the page, at at the top left are two little boxes inside each other. Click this. this is the layers list.
Uncheck them all, and you should now be able to see the whole map. Navigate to the location, and turn the layers back on.
The area will be overlaid with a square. Left click this, and a download list will appear. You want the second one. (DTM) You need a program like QGis or Global mapper to view the file. Hope that helps.

I see QGis is for free, however looks somewhat confusing for me with the every-time changing versions and plus modules... something like the pocket-watch for the swine... ( :
Anyways - one day I get back to my laptop, I will have all I got to know to have a deeper look!
Thanks for your instructions!
