Holes in the water -> literally! These "holes" are a special kind of spillway, a structure that allows for controlled release of water from a dam or levee. There are many different kinds of spillways, however the most - in my opinion - interesting, is the one that looks like it swallows the water: the bell-mouth spillway, which can also be called by many names, including shaft spillway, morning glory spillway, glory hole spillway, inverted bell spillway, and plug hole spillway.
This collection documents these special spillways all around the world, categorized by country and then alphabetical within each nation. Each find has (if available) pictures, more info, video links, and Google Street View imagery. I was able to find 102 different holes in 29 different countries and in all continents except Antarctica.
