This mansion, situated in an exclusive and expensive area of London, housed an MI 19 interrogation centre from 1940 to 1948. The centre, known as the 'London Cage' interrogated German POW's (including SS members), and, after the war, accused war criminals. It could hold up to 60 prisoners and employed 10 officers, 12 NCO interrogators with 5 interrogation rooms. The unit was directed by Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Scotland. Since the end of the war there have been persistent accusations of violations of the 1929 Geneva convention regarding mis-treatment of prisoners. To date nothing has been proved. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_CageThe London Cage..kmz (1.07 KB)
