This is the location of the Sherman Tank Memorial to the service personnel who lost their lives in a training accident of Slapton Sands.
Whilst practising for the D-Day landings they were surprised by u-boats. Hundreds of U.S troops were killed.
A local man, Ken Small, was responsible for the recovery and restoration of the Sherman tank.
