Three TM-3-12 railway guns were built in the Soviet Union in 1938/39. The 12-inch (305 mm) caliber gun barrels come from the battleship of the Imperial Russian Navy "Imperatriza Marija", which sank in 1916. The TM-3-12 were used in the Soviet-Finnish war and fell into the hands of Finland on the Hanko Peninsula. After the conclusion of an armistice with Finland in September 1944, the TM-3-12 systems were returned to the USSR and on January 1, 1945 as a separate railway battery again part of the Red Banner Artillery Brigade in Baltiysk, where they served until 1961 . All three copies have survived to this day: one is in the Museum of the Great Patriotic War in Moscow, the second is in the Museum of Russian Railways in St. Petersburg, the third in the fort "Krasnaya Gorka" not far from St. Petersburg.
