From www.ww2.dk - an excellent source of information. H.L. de Zeng IV Compared to other countries, pre-war Norway possessed a remarkable number of sea-plane bases. This may because of the terrain which makes rail building difficult. Red = operational (einsatzhafen) usually heavily defended. Yellow = Grass landing strips (landeplatz) Few traces remain. Purple = airfield defenses. Blue anchor = Seaplane bases (Seefliegerhorst). White = Dummy/decoy fields. Often with fake aircraft and lights. N.B. Fliegerhorst 'Lista' is probably the most interesting of the fifty-seven listed by de Zeng. The base has an interesting and long history. Luftwaffe Airfields in Norway..kmz (13.79 KB)
