If ever there was a perfect town to spend the year 2020, it is Puolanka, Finland. Their claim to fame, they hope (wait, they don't hope, they're pessimists) is the Puolangan pessimistit ry, or the Puolanka Pessimist Association. It seems they are steadily losing population and the town has a reputation for having nothing to do. I'm not sure what else other small Finnish towns have that Puolanka lacks, since all seem to be surrounded by thick forests, lakes, rivers, waterfalls and big boulders. Natural beauty, in other words. The people of Puolanka say they are also known for their pessimism. There is a sign as you enter the town that warns You've still got time to turn around. [Source]
