Theatres of the United Kingdom.kmz (238.51 KB) I have loved theatre all my life. I saw my first professional play when I was about 8 years old and have loved the excitement of the drama, the magic of the musicals, and the fun of comedy being portrayed by both famous professionals and unknown amateurs, ever since then. I was surprised at just how many theatres there are in the United Kingdom. At the end of this project I counted 640 theatre venues (I’m sure I’ve missed some!) From the smallest of theatres, including the Tom Thumb Theatre in Margate, and the even smaller Theatre of Small Convenience, which is located in a Victorian Gentleman’s Lavatory in the town of Malvern; to the largest of venues including the Edinburgh Playhouse and the London Palladium. From the oldest of British theatres, including the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London which dates back to 1663, and Bristol Old Vic which opened in 1766;
to the newest including The Market Theatre in Ledbury, which is reputedly the first in the world to open in the new Millennium, and St. James Theatre in London which opened in 2012. My own personal favourite is the Palace Theatre in Westcliff-on-Sea, where I worked as an usherette for many years. My favourite type of theatre is musical theatre, and I could watch " Les Miserables" or " Miss Saigon" every week. I’d love to hear what are your favourite type of shows and which is your favourite theatre.
The attached kmz folder placemarks all of the live theatre venues in the United Kingdom. I have included amateur theatre venues as well as professional, some venues just host opera or dance, many host drama and musical theatre shows. I’ve tried to include every theatre that is currently open, but if I have missed any, please let me know so that I can add them.

This is a copy of my post in the old Google Earth Community. The kmz has 642 placemarks, so if you don't want to download it onto Google Earth, you can see the same map here. All the theatres are displayed, but there is less information in each placemark than in GE.
