Here is a very dry and remote place to get away from civilization, if you're an adventure tourist. Sputnik Navoi Yurt Camp is in Uzbekistan, 3 mi. from the village of Yangikazgan. The manmade Aydar Lake is about 18 miles away. There are two photos on the GE location and many more HERE. The camp has rated 3.5 stars out of 5, pretty good for a small camp out in the desert of Uzbekistan. You might see a Russian Steppe tortoise or a Transcaspian monitor lizard. Source
Something I had not known despite being familiar with the word since 1957: Sputnik means fellow traveler. Navoi or Navoiy is the name of the region. (Sputnik has worked its way into the English language and probably others.)
