a very nice find! i would have thought, it's unique ...huh, it's not, i found at least 2 other crocodiles in such places! EDIT: found a 3rd one here

The answer: I found this crocodile mentioned in an early (written in the 1890s) horror story by M. R. James, “Canon Alberic’s Scrap-Book”. I was amazed to find that “the dusty stuffed crocodile” is still there. It is a souvenir brought back by a returning crusader. It can be admired in the cathedral of the tiny French town of Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges, in the foothills of the Pyrenees. 43.0267°N, 0.5713°E
