This late 19th century 'Ringstrasse Palais' was built by the architect Theophil Freiherr Hansen for the Ephrussis, a very wealthy family of bankers and grain merchants and contemporaries of the Rothschilds. It plays a significant role in the biography 'The Hare with the Amber Eyes' authored by Edmund de Wall. During WW2 it was occupied and looted by the Nazis, then occupied by U.S. forces. Later OPEC used the premises; it now serves as offices for Casino Austria. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hare_with_Amber_EyesPalais Ephrussi Vienna Austria..kmz (1.03 KB)
