I am not very familiar with Google earth. I was using it to scout an area where I was going to go to do some sky watching. So I dragged the man figure to the location where I was going to be standing. The view from there showed the trees some distance away. Is there a way to figure the angle of the view over the tree tops? I wanted to see objects in the sky that were supposed to be low on the horizon and I needed to know if that object will clear the trees from that vantage point. Is there a way to do it? Thanks.

Comet watch? (:
GE I think is not the best for astronomy purposes. At worst you can do a try with 3D Buildings layer, but it won't display trees far from urban areas I am afraid.
Welcome anyhow - have a pleasant lookaround on this board!
