This map has nothing specifically to do with Google Earth / Maps, but I suppose a lot of the membership here are passionate about maps, and this interactive map is one of the most powerful interactive maps I have ever come across.

I have noted a number of North American tribes are missing, and I am wondering if that is due to the time period this map represents, or just incomplete information.

I have nothing to do with the making of this map (which seemed pretty accurate to me in the few areas where I have a smidgen of knowledge). I was impressed with the scope, and posted the link because I assumed other members would find it equally interesting. If you have discovered omissions, I think it likely that the creators would welcome your input. I suppose you might find some answers to your questions about how territorial changes were handled in the blog, and specific suggestions for additions, I suppose, would be welcomed at the "How to Contribute" link.

I have tried to send them a kmz file on contributions page. Pain; kmz files cannot be selected for upload...! (:
Still really is a great new map-gadget with many opportunities in visualising historical data and dynamics as well. Think, I will spend some time on it,

Thank you sharing this with us! - Also now it is listed in my Map-Tools Selection. (;
