Special Liveries - GE Collection (6.0 - 4/6/2024)

I love collections! Here's a collection of airline special liveries - as seen in Google Earth! (no StreetView)

Finds are primarily my own from scanning imagery at airports, with a couple from users on this or other forums (thanks willi1 for your contributions!).

As of the current release (6.0), there are 1450 finds (1111 civilian, 150 military, 18 hybrid, 11 camo, 140 honorable mention, 20 unidentified), with special liveries from 210 airlines and 3 airline alliances. The collection is split into categories: New Finds, Unidentified Liveries, Honorable Mentions, Camouflaged [Aircraft], Hybrid Liveries, Military Aircraft, and Civilian Aircraft.

Big update - almost doubled the number of finds!

I went through current and historical imagery for close to 300 airports to find a whole bunch of new special liveries. Lots of military finds this time, including a collection of "Centennial of Naval Aviation" liveries for US naval aircraft, as well as finding some CAG birds - which are the specially painted aircraft flown by the commanding officer of US Navy carrier air groups.

179 new finds, including 27 military planes and 152 civilian planes, as well as 30 new airlines

Also two new folders - an ID Me folder for aircraft liveries I couldn't identify, as well as an "Honorable Mention" folder for airline liveries that look awesome, but aren't actually special liveries

Another big update. I've now gone through current and historical imagery at ~1000 airports, so this is probably the last update for awhile, at least until there's significantly more new imagery.

98 new finds, including 12 military planes and 86 civilian planes, as well as 24 new airlines

Actually, I might expand into StreetView as well, and add Special Liveries visible in Google Streetview. My Streetview in Flight collection already has 142 finds, and I know there's a bunch more finds on the internet, so could potentially add 200+ new finds. A project for this weekend perhaps.

Sadly, not happening. I'm going to keep this collection Google Earth only, as it's too much extra work keeping both StreetView and Google Earth views updated.

However, I checked some more airports this weekend and have another update. Actually the last update for awhile though!

I went through and double checked a bunch of airports now that I can more easily ID potential special liveries.

Pretty big update this time, mostly from 2020 imagery (lots of grounded airplanes!) but also older imagery I found.

This is the private Cessna 680A Citation Latitude of Kyle Busch, a US NASCAR Racing driver. In the registration number N518KB is his name abbreviation (KB) an his permanent starting number 18 includet. Maybe the 5 has also a meaning.
