hi all! after browsing the web and GE for 2 weeks I have already given up to find any infos, even to spot one more piece of these interesting symbols, I have posted about not long ago. these are from one geological unit of Algeria, at least I could not look up more from other areas. ... if anyone here happens to know some closer on these or simply has a faint idea about what these can be, please contribute in the thread linked above! thanks in advance F&G Masters! - I know: if anything can be found on the Web about these, then You will find that! (; see you! G p.s.: first info-provider wins, ... then all of us! (:

The simplest explanation would be a corral that is used temporarily. Depending on the season, grass grows abundantly there. The seemingly dead landscape is often deceptive in GE.

...The seemingly dead landscape is often deceptive in GE. Very well said, however I have problems with the corral-theory... read my doubts and glossary in original thread! Thanks for response and that you took the challenge!

I enhanced the image on Online Google Earth with paint . net It could be either #1 Ancient Burial site or #2 An Archaeological Dig Site. Those squares nearby, aren't pixels, but squares of structures. The long narrow grooves are part of the structure. The measurements of the enigma is 43'long x 32'wide The location of this enigma, is on an ancient lava flow. link

Thanks for the response ET_Explorer ! - Sorry, I have to disagree with both ideas of yours: #1 Ancient Burial Site - On footseps of KenGrok I have browsed through cca. 70% of he whole Saharan region yet and have read tons of studies and articles about types of megalithic (burial) structures in Africa, but nothing even similar... Also it seems to be quite old, but ancient by no means (as I think now). (Note the way too perfect shapes and contrasts.) #2 Archaeological Dig Site - I have participated in an archaeological dig project also have read many case studies, still I cannot find a reasonable explanation for why to make such perfect and custom alignments of the covering volcanic stone debris. I think this would serve no purpose of any kinds of surface collecting methods... An archaeo-dig project looks much more chaotic and is not about making uniform stone alignments. Also if this (these) were about an archaeo-project, one should expect more features on imagery (tracks, dig-holes, anything). One more fact against this theory: I have browsed some topographic maps of the region and found nothing. These maps are usually containing such details as wells, temporary wells, oases, settlements, ancient ruins, etc.., but where these symbols can be found, these maps are empty. (Okay it is not conclusive alone - many features I could placemark from such "empty spaces" already.) Anyhow, if these would be sondage scars, then these should to look more fuzzy and much more simple in structure I think. (Note the perfect half-circle arches at the top of the "book spines" or the nicely built "P attachments".) Still I am groping in the dark...

You post this in fun&games, hoping that one the members can tell you exactly what this is. But no one in fun&games, is from algeria or is familiar with this location.

You post this in fun&games, ... thanks for warning - was not accidentally done! - also you know that selected company of the best (GE-related) "search engines" are visiting this sub-board, so quite obvious why I did a try around here with this cross-posting. you know - old GE-riders with experienced eyes, with many GE sights in their memories, having endless folders of archive kmz files...(: do not get me wrong mate; I am thankful to you for your contribution, but that is the way, how things go: 1 st phase: speculations - theories to chew and keep or to reject ... and many times it turns out that it is me who walks the wrong path...
