Indirectly mentioned in almost every news report nowadays, I became curious about this man. Turns out he was a really great person. GSV. Please do not zoom out too much so as not to spoil it for the other players.

He is usually portrayed with a moustache, isn’t he? If not, then there are two people who are indirectly mentioned every day. So far I found many busts, sculptures and statues, but not this one.

Nope. You must be thinking of the wrong person. Also indirectly means that his name is being mentioned although totally unrelated to the news itself

Also indirectly means that his name is being mentioned although totally unrelated to the news itself I took it to mean implicitly mentioned, which on second thought is a contradiction.
The man with the moustache I had in mind: a countryman of yours, Ignaz Semmelweis (1818-65), who championed thorough hand-washing for the medical professions.

Yeah, and everybody considered him a lunatic.

ANSWER The worldwide statistics of coronavirus are published by the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. Founded in 1876, the university was named for its first benefactor, the American entrepreneur, abolitionist, and philanthropist Johns Hopkins. More info about him: Street View:
