These days, I saw lots of small planes, flying low and slow and following a pattern of parallel lines over Belgium, the Netherlands and northern France. Is this related to an upcoming update of the Google Earth images ?
Attached an image of one of these samples (captured from flightradar).

Hi jaak! Welcome around!
Well this for sure about some remote sensing (mapping) project, however customer for this service, also exact purpose of the flight remains unknown.
Not only aerial photo databases for Google Earth imagery, but so many other kinds of data for a wide palette of customers can be imagined from various sectors. (Agricultural, Infarstructural, Archaeological projects, just to list a few reliable cases.)
Or do you have other infos, that you sniff GE update?
*** Nice observation anyway!
Best! G
