_ Ive mapped out thousands of miles of these things ive been calling "tree walls". These things stretch across southwestern Russia and usually consist of 3 to 4 lines. each line is almost 180-200 feet thick. In the providence Kalmyakia there are no tree walls and i believe that once they did exist in the providence but due to nuclear testing and bad agricultural practice most of the land has turned to barren desert. There is also a few extra neat finds in the kmz, possibly ancient burial grounds and other neat oddities.

The answer can be found amongst the links I have sent in PM, provided by krenek also some relateds by cjm. (Also proud to myself that I have done by guess.) (; It was a great idea of a great project by great experts of the great soviet union governed by their "great leader" Stalin. Their main goal was to isolate good quality agricultural lands from spreading of desert by the southwestern winds. The section alongside river Ural seems slightly a different. On Sand soils probably much easier to "leach" rivers with such tree cordons. Other important thing to add, that it provides hide, habitat and natural corridor for wild species, thus helps saving biodiversity. (many other reliable additonal functions as defense, wires, etc.) Ending, also this is a great posting about how tiny creatures as we are trying to fight against forces of nature with forces of nature. Thanks @numbear77 for posting! Krenek and CJM for co-work! *** the ractangles and other strange shapes are about modern age military activity - trenched tent positions- and some is about herding. ... really interesting - and I would cut and paste it to an individual posting (!)- is your star-fort scene with interesting historical imagery and also the site with the colorful pools!! the fort is "Fortress of St. Anne" (check GE Photos layer) and I think it is some kind of a tourist attraction (medieval village replica), (also was) scene of festivals, probably movie reels, but the pools of colored water is some kind a genuine find! I think it is some mud volcanoes site. the color is comes from salinity and shape might refer to upstream of natural heat and / or gas plumes... (I am just groping in the darkness so far..)
