First off Huge credit for this goes to User JacobBogle! His "Star Forts Around the World.kmz " Got me started on finding these. His download includes most of the forts and I added a few more myself.
While looking for more in the "chain" of forts I started to see the foundations of bastion walls that connected most of the forts. Im fairly certain they are walls due to their similarities to the walls you see often in the Netherlands. They also appear to be almost identical to the wall that gave the famous Wall Street its name.
Nowadays all that is left is just a moat and mound with only 3-5 meter difference in elevation. sometimes the lines disappear into the forest and due to the absolute lack of street view its hard to path them sometimes. I assume i only have 40% of the lines mapped. google is also useless for finding any information on these. A Russian translator and a vpn return some results but not much. Due to the location of these forts and how decrepit and decayed they are, I don't exactly know how used these. Where they made by chengis khan? Was it the Tartars? Im not sure but if anybody has information on this it would be helpful with understanding their origin and time era.
Also if anyone would like to help map these that would be awesome! Im currently searching for LiDar and topographical maps to try to see under the trees.
The Download attached contains the fort locations and path overlays. the red ones are confirmed and the blue ones are my guess until i can find historical maps Russainstarfortbastionwalls.kmz (20.34 KB)

Here is just some more interesting pictures of stuff you can find around the location.
Here you can see a mostly destroyed Fort totally behind the wall. Some crop patterns left behind from the wall after it was destroyed by a farmer. There are also a few interesting Square shapes within the wall. Possibly the foundation of watchtowers?

hey! nice grab of a defense line, I think is (and all of its parts are) much younger than the Ghenghis Khan era. also if you check the map of the (1st) mongol invasion you see it passes far this line. it could have played role around the 2nd mongol invasion, led by Batu khan, the grandson of Ghenghis, but I think even these are more younger structures. Detailed plan of the Mongol invasion of Hungarysourceprobably Batu and the Golden Horde were the last, painful evidence for the Rus, that a defense line were needed to set up there...

Thanks so much for the maps! those really are like gold to me. American internet has soo much stuff hidden and non-accessible unless you are using a vpn so finding good maps is rare for me. But yeah that was my idea originally that ghengis khans linage built these.
But upon inspecting the area its possible that another set of events occurred. judging by the erosion of the wall foundations the wall and at least some of the forts where built at vastly different times. It Seems like whoever made the first fort which lies directly in the middle of the chain, must have built it, abandoned it and then came back to build more forts and to secure the front. This may be why only this fort is not touching the wall, and why it is so different in design from the others.
This is what i believe to be the oldest fort in the entire chain. Its design, erosion, proximity to the wall without touching it makes me believe that this one is indeed the oldest one, possibly the only one built by the golden hoard.
This small earthwork is very close to the pic above less than half a kilometer away is this perfect square base, possibly a watchtower to look over the wall or as food storage for the soldiers. Its also possible that Kublie khan and batu khan where responsible for the original fort and then the rest where created or secured by Tartars. Sadly i cant find anything on the Tartars as an American. The soviets erased the history and the Americans where complacent in it since we knew they where lying.
