From The Guardian today, this photo illustrates the extent of sea ice melt in an unusual way. Teams of dogs runs across the Inglefield Fiord in northwest Greenland. Ice has melted to several inches above the sea ice, posing a hazard for people and dogs, who would not necessarily know the thickness of they're traveling over. It was calculated that the ice sheet below on June 13, when this photo was taken, was about 1.2 meters thick. A team from the Danish Meteorological Institute travels across the melted sea ice to retrieve equipment. Photograph: Steffen M Olsen/TwitterGraphic also from The Guardian... ... Just have read the posthumous book by Stephen Hawking: Brief Answers to the Big Questions, still I cannot forget, that probably global-warming already is an irreversible process and that we are heading to a Venus-Earth, only with 250 celsius surface temperature... Do not forget: one resolving hypothesis of the Fermi paradox is that It is the nature of intelligent life to destroy itself! Global-warming, overpopulation, famine, poverty, contamination and waste-problem, nuclear threats, ... - todays we are living on a planet of smart-phones and dumb-people... instant, radical change have to be done or else we are lost!

Even if not too late right now, it will be by the time our governments - who are in charge of everything, whether we like it or not - start doing anything meaningful about it.
