The HMAS Sydney II went down off the coast of Western Australia on 19th November 1941, taking with her the entire crew of 645 servicemen after being hit by a German Raider. She has not been positively located as yet but new investigations are under way to find the grave site of her crew and the eighty German seamen that were lost during the battle. This post will be updated with replies as new information becomes available.
The placemark and following coordinates relate to the actual location that The HMAS Sydney II was found on the 17th of march 2008, The HSK Kormoran and the Battle Site.

Deep-sea images captured below the Indian Ocean confirm what really happened to HMAS Sydney II

A close-up of a previously unseen 15cm shell hole through the bridge of HMAS Sydney II in the Indian Ocean off Shark Bay, WA. This supports the German captain Theodor Detmers’ account of the battle which states the first salvo to hit Sydney was a direct hit to the bridge

UPDATE JULY 13 2015.
Stunning new images have been captured by Curtin University and WA Museum expedition to the wrecks of the Kormoran and the Sydney this year.
