Hello While following a friend's plane toward Taiwan, I noticed this weird stain in the sea, at 6km (4 miles) abroad from the shore of west Taiwan. It was not there in 2016. What is this ? Pollution ? Zab Weird_stain_Taiwan.kmz (730 B)

This is not a real event. Rather a picture error. If no date is displayed, it is usually overlays of different images. Use the time slider, then you will see the real picture.

Ah yes, I did see that the stain didn't exist before, with the time scale, but I didn't know this thing about overlays. Thanks !

Well, its not neccessarily a data error just because it disappears using time sliders.
But it is actually showing a ring of cloud, and a typical view of the *surface* of the ocean inside it.
The general thing about this one is that it looks like a human as circles that area with a faux cloud outline, and selected one particular photo of the oceans surface to reveal the surface there. Actually , the way they convinced the software to show the surface was to change the depth of that zone to be zero , rather than 10 metres DEEP. I can see the depth is set to zero, using the windows google earth executable.
Go across to the actual shore.. you see the photo of surface of the water where its only a metre or so deep ... but you see the faux colour representation of the ocean where its deeper.
