The HMVS (Her Majesty's Victorian Ship) was a monitor which served in the Victorian Navy, the Commonwealth Navy and later the Royal Australian Navy. It was a "Fleet in Beeing" to shock the Russian forces which held the colony of Victoria at gunpoint. Like today the "system of deterrence" worked and no Russian ship was in sight her four 10'' guns which were unique at this part of the world at this time. Around 1900 her job was done, she was desarmed and the engines were thrown out. Her fate was to end as a wave breaker at Half Moon Bay at Black Rock, Victoria. Her remains can be seen today until the corrosion will win. Cheers, Raven
