I'm new here. I don't know what a thread is, I only want to ask something, but I can't find out all over GECF how to make a simple post of a question.
Above approx. 12 km eye alt, time slider widens to include imagery from the 80s and 90s (starting from 1984). But on zoom-in, it narrows down, going out of that time range to only include more recent imagery (starting with the year 2000). So how to keep it in the full time range even when zoomed in to way below 12 km alt? (When this feature was new, it let us do that!)

Welcome mnt,
Well, you have created a thread now by posting your question and it has been replied too, as the discussion becomes longer and more replies appear the thread will become longer.
Quote " The term "thread" can also refer to a series of related postings in an online discussion. Web-based bulletin boards are made up of many topics, or threads. The replies posted in response to the original posting are all part of the same thread. In e-mail, a thread can refer to a series of replies back and forth pertaining a certain message." End Quote

As far as your question, imagine a wall covered with lots of tiny pictures, the further away you stand, the more tiny pictures you see, the closer you stand to the wall the fewer pictures you will be able to see. Google earth imagery is similar in that it is a sphere covered with lots of mosaics of satellite imagery, so the more you zoom in the less mosaics you will be able to see.
Hope that helps.
