Annoying Advertisement In GE Community

I can participate in GE Community, Or I can involve myself in an advertisement, in which this website doesn't allow.

Now I have enabled my ADP (Ad Block Plus) on this site, and received this message stating "Please consider supporting this website by disabling your ad-blocker. This website does not use audio ads, popups, or other annoyances. Thank you!"

This here is an Annoyance, An Advertisement!  




I can click shop now! On the Lowe's Advertisement and forget about my involvement in GE Community. Because apparently these ads are here on the browsing interests of each user who is participating in this community.

Yes ET, you have complete control, you have the choice, entirely up to you if you click on the link in an ad, or continue to participate in the Community.

And you're half correct, the Community doesn't allow advertising within the forums, but, the software and provider of the platform is a different thing.


It has been discussed whether to pay to get the banner ads removed or not, and so far the comments have been from people that obviously have an attention span that they can control, and cruise on past the ads without duress to enjoy the forums.

Majority of comments have been around the lines of,  " I can take em or leave em, don't particularly bother me".

So the "annoyance " factor so far appears to be relatively low.

Who knows, in the future, if we become financially well endowed, or, we hear that members are going crazy and loosing their marbles over the ads, a change may have to be considered.

I want to endorse what No_Stranger said, we have talked about it, but, no one seems that bothered with it. If you, ET, want to make a donation, it will also help in how, things get sorted. We have a democratic group of Admin that includes a treasurer, so everything is taken into account including member comments. So thanks.
