Once you around Bend, Oregon, do not forget to visit the Petersen Rock Garden. It contains dozens of imaginative and intricately detailed miniature buildings, including castles, churches and cottages built of agate, jasper, lava, malachite, obsidian, petrified wood and thundereggs. The 1.6 acre site also houses Wigeons and a small museum with a souvenir shop that sells stones, including crystals, fossils and semi-precious stones. The museum has a fluorescent room with miniature castles of manganese, tungsten, uranium and zinc that glow in the dark. Petersen Rock Garden was added to the National Register of Historic Places on 2013.
But, how long the gem created by the Danish Rasmus Petersen († 1952) started 1935 still exists is uncertain ...
