The Boeing E-4 Advanced Airborne Command Post, also called Nightwatch, or unofficially "doomsday aircraft", serves as the United States Air Force (USAF) flying command post for crisis situations. It is based on the Boeing 747-200B and is intended as the National Airborne Operations Center (NAOC) to ensure the command and command of the US government and armed forces, if the land-based communications infrastructure is already destroyed by war or natural disasters. One of the four existing E-4s can be seen at the Robins AFB. And - these planes has already 35 - 45 years on the hump.
