The Mozu no Mimihara Kofun Gun ("Goon") is probably the best known of all the kofun groups in Japan. It is located on the Mozu no Mimi Hara (Butcherbird Ear Moor) in what is now the city of Sakai. These tombs were mostly built in the 5th and early 6th centuries. Of the some 100 original tombs, 47 are still extant. They include the large keyhole shaped kofun (3 of the 10 largest in Japan), as well as smaller square and round ones. This Japanese language site has a complete list.
Some of the tombs placemarked in this file are identified as tombs of Emperors of Japan from the protohistoric period. Since there is considerable reason to believe that these figures actually existed and were not merely mythological, I have retained the snippets of biographical information in the placemarks, even though I have since learned that archeological studies have provided reason to doubt the correctness of the tomb occupants as made by the Imperial Household Agency. If you are interested in these matters, you may wish to download my file Kinki Kofun Size & Time, or (with its Japanese interface) 近畿古墳の大きさと年代".
You can read a charming account of how this place got its unusual name from the Nihon Sho Ki, Japan's second oldest book.
