Libyan Arab Air Cargo is a Libyan cargo airline based in Tripoli and based at Tripoli International Airport. It is the only company outside of the former Soviet Union / Ukraine that used an Antonov An-124. (Apart from Maximus Air Cargo UAE, which operates an An-124 with a Ukrainian registration) In 2001 Libya bought two An-124s (built in 1992 and 1994 respectively) and operated them until 2011 when, after the civil war, no funds were available for restarting Libyan Arab air freight. One aircraft, the 5A-DKL 'Susa', was flown to Unkraine for repairs (where it was subsequently confiscated because Libya did not pay the repair costs). The second aircraft, the 5A-DKN 'Sabrata', remained at Tripoli airport. During the fighting in the second Libyan civil war, the 5A-DKN was badly damaged by shelling in June 2019. A few days later, the total destruction occurred in further battles. Negotiations are currently underway between Libya and Ukraine on the return of the 5A-DKL, which is located at the Antonov airfield Svyatoschyn near Kiev.
If this is not successful, the aircraft will be auctioned internationally.

Most of the Russian operated An-124's are in storage these days. Seshcha Air base has a total of 16 in various states of repair. Some look flightworthy, but others have flight surfaces and engines missing. An-124 Seshcha.kmz (705 B) Ulyanovsk has a total of 5 in a similarly poor state. An-124 Ulyanovsk.kmz (706 B)
