It is a 3 meter replica, but it was made from the original volcanic stone of Easter Island by the artist Alejandro Pakarati, a native of Easter Island. It can be found in Dublin on the Clontarf Promenade and is a gift from the Chilean government from November 2004.

Hi again, we also have some in Germany, for example in a museum in Cologne and in Hamburg. In November 1999, two volcanic stones (six tons) were brought from the Easter Island here to Hamburg at the instigation of the Consulate General of Chile in Hamburg and worked by sculptors of the island, as in ancient times, with traditional hand tools. Some of the Chileans living in Hamburg have christened this Moai "Angelito" and decided to celebrate the "Moai's Birthday" in an annual Michelwiesenfest. Meanwhile, the Moai is a tourist attraction. So long! Pitter Moai Angelito Hamburg Germany.kmz (858 B) link Moai Angelito Hamburg

In Italy there is a moai, the only true one outside Easter Island in the world. It is located in Vitorchiano, a village of Etruscan origin, a few kilometers from Viterbo. The Moai di Vitorchiano is not old: in 1990 it was designed by eleven indigenous Maori of the Easter Island, who were invited by RAI - Radiotelevisione italiana. As the Moai originals on Easter Island worsen, state television searched for a volcanic rock that resembles the Easter Island quarry to build a new one. He found it right here: a giant peperino block weighing thirty tons. He was sculpted by eleven indigenous Maori of the Atanm family with manual axes and sharp stones from the island of Rapa Nui (Easter Island, Chile). 'The Moai - explained the builders after dancing around the block of Peperino, which was gradually taking shape - is a sacred sculpture: it brings wealth to the observed place, provided it is never moved. When it is moved from the place where it is carved, it causes great misfortune. '

This 40-year-old Tucson icon was once in the now closed property Magic Carpet Golf. Tucsonians and visitors can now see their famous tiki in a Hawaiian grill on 4th Avenue.

thanks krenek this great " off-topic" story! (:I think, that of course it should be returned to the members of the culture it was born within, and let them do anything they want to do with it! we already have enough replicas of these around! (; other sort of thing when indigenous maori people sculpt one in another coutry to stand there. (check post above in this thread by willi1 ) ------ here I attach placemark with approximate position and direction of "The Friend that Lost" before it was moved (based on wiki-data), also give link to essential source of info!
