Tarapur Atomic Power Station is located in Tarapur - Maharashtra - western coast of India. T. is the largest nuclear power station and contains four units. Construction began 1962 and the first two units were brought online for commercial operation on Oct. 1969. The last unit 4 was brought online for commercial op. on Sep. 2005. A former director of Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) said that Tarapur 1 and 2 reactors are much older than the reactors involved in the Fukushima nuclear accident and argued that they should be immediately decommissioned. In my opinion they will never do it.....dismal outlook. Best wishes, Pitter Tarapur Atomic Power Station India.kmz (768 B)

Thanks for posting, pitter. That does look quite obsolite and I don't blame you for being skeptical. So, 1 and 2 are still in operation?

Hi Diane 9247, thanks for your message. TAPS 1 & 2 are located in the north adjacent the three heliports. Last imagery from 11.11.2017 showed flowing cooling water. Thus the plant was and is still prob in operation. Best wishes, Pitter
