'Knickebein' (Crooked Leg) was a WW2 Luftwaffe directional radio system developed from the Lorenz navigation system, used by commerecial airliners. It laid a radio beam over the target which the bomber could follow. It was a relitavely simple system which the British quickly countered. Still visible today are the circular tracks on which the antennae were slewed. I have managed to locate all 13 of the known sites, including one in Sicily which was never completed. I would like to acknowledge christianCH whose earlier work greatly aided this project. forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?f=70&p=2111394de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deutschsprachige_Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_BeamsKnickebein- Luftwaffe Blind Bombing Device..kmz (2.67 KB)
