Once, in northern California, I picked up a binocular and looked at Mount Shasta about 100 miles distance, and just as I lifted the binocular to my eye there was an avalanche on Mount Shasta. In this case it appears literaly a satellite snapped a picture over a mountain peak just as an avalanche occurred.
