Its in West Antarctica area... West as in the vicinity of 90 West... South Antarctica could also be called central.. or near the poles.. in the middle of the ice/snow area...
Its on the Larsen ice shelf A area, close to the B and rather close to the divider between them that is the Seal Nunatuk island chain.. these islands are volcanoes. So I would say that no one will call it a mysterious crater, its rather a feature of the Seal Nunatuk volcanoes .. one of many vents or hot spots in the area. They know the volcanoes are active. There are many hot spots under the Antarctic ice, that are not reveraled as craters, as they are currently covered in ice.
