You can also go to Tools, down to Options, and change the Elevation Exaggeration to 2. The gereral trend of the divide is a south facing slope. Tributaries of the North Fork of the Merced cut the Merced – Tuolumne Divide into several north-south spur ridges. These converge near Bower Cave where the old Coulterville and Yosemite Road crosses the river. The main geophysical divide is shifted to the north and droping abruptly from the north rim where sunlight is reflected off the walls of the Lower Tuolumne Canyon. And narrows, at Pilot Peak Ridge, where a steep slope descends to the South and Middle Tuolumne canyons. Preist Grade is at the mountainous gate to the Tuolumne Canyon. Two roads, one old and one modern, climb the wall of the divide. Highway 120 as well, traces the northern rim of the Merced-Tuolumne Divide. Yosemite Valley is in the Merced watershed, upper right. The Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne is on the Tuolumne River below the Merced-Tuolumne Divide. Tioga Pass, a saddle on the crest of the High Sierra at the Merced-Tuolumne Divide.
