Hi, I'm new here so don't quite know if this is the place to get help for my head scratcher. A friend sent me satellite pics (google earth) of airports in the world. I found all of them quite easily, except one and it is killing me. Here it is: Thanks for any help Sylvain

HI,
Do you have any more information at all? Like, is north up in the image? Was it part of a set of particular types of airports?

Wow! How did you find it so quickly? First, it's a desert or arid setting, but had the river near the top of the picture and obvious mountain peaks. It looked like an small commercial airport because of the number of buildings, not just a private field. It just didn't 'feel' like China, Australia, India, Africa or other large arid regions. I worked for an airline in America for the better part of 30 years, and flew between Dallas, Chicago and New York to Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Francisco 4-5 times a month, it reminded me of Arizona/Nevada. Since there were mountains and a river I thought of the Grand Canyon. I searched for airports in the AZ/NV area that might handle Canyon sightseeing flights using small prop planes. It threw me for a second because the runway runs north-south, and in the OP it appears east-west. It's an interesting field in the sense it is so remote, on the Hualapai Indian Reservation...something like 30 driving-miles from the small town of Meadview, but it's street address is "Peach Springs, AZ", which is about 100 miles away. I was surprised it handled nearly 150,000 passengers annually...obviously sightseers. Grand Canyon West Airport
It was a fun exercise!

I owe everyone an apology!! I have no idea why I did not treat syl20kidd's post like a normal post/puzzle, but instead posted the details on the airport before anyone else had a chance to find it! I guess I just focused on his request for help identifying it, and didn't think about others wanting to search for it. (It was early morning here in Thailand, so I'll use that as my excuse!) Sorry!!!
