On the small island of San Pantaleo (where the ancient city of Motya was), near Marsala, Sicily, there is what appears to be "HELP" written out in large letters comprised of stone. The letters are arranged in two rows "HE" and beneath "LP", with each set of letters being approx. 211 feet (64 m) x 159 feet (49 m) in size. They just showed up on the most recent Google Earth image, which is dated July 29, 2016.
It could be a joke, a frightening cry for help, or a cry for help for all the archaeological work that needs to be done. Either way, it's interesting.
