Check Street View Here: Yet another weird road configuration, Granada at Masonic, Belmont, CA. Why did they place these two concrete frames at the end of the street? There are two more at the far end also. Are they to prevent parking here? To direct traffic off the curbside? Its just weird.

There's a few around London, something to do with cycle lanes. A waste of tax payers money IMO.

Most likely to protect pedestrians by forcing vehicles to slow down, although the bike lane probably also benefits. Note that there are more of them at the intersection to the northwest, which is also the entrance into an elementary school. www.ite.org/traffic/tcdevices.asp
