Finland. A relatively young with a small population of around five and a half million people will be celebrating it's 100th birthday this coming 6th of December. Bjørn Geirr Harsson, Norwegian geophysicist and great all round guy hatched an idea. An idea to give the Finnish people a big birthday present......A mountain top. Bjørn's idea has gained popular widespread support for it's altruistic ideal and the massive amount of goodwill it has generated. David Freid directed a video about the idea in the hope of convincing Norway's politicians to give the Halti mountain top to Finland but the Norwegian Government won't budge and fair enough as their constitution states that they legally cant give away bit's of their country......Even if it is a nice idea. Below is David's video, Battle for Birthday Mountain. Article from GoodNewsNetwork. Finland Wikipedia.

I heard about the mountain in the news awhile ago and thought it was a unique and quirky idea.
Happy Birthday to Finland in its 100th year!
