In three parts, Very Easy, Easy, Not so easy (for some) ................ EDIT : As one reads more of accounts on the Web and in books about these adventures, one finds that there is considerable disagreement between some writers. So, if the account you find and read mentions a different island, the island that I have shown here is nearby. In one case, it may be that maps and navigation were poor in the 17th and 18th centuries. In other case, reports appear to be simply incorrect. But I wasn't there!! These three island have been places where men have been marooned (or are close to those island and places). The man (said by some) to have been marooned on the first is very well known, but perhaps not by his given name. (NOTE: He more likely was marooned on a different island, to the east of this one, but this one is named after him). The man (men) marooned in the second became very famous. The man (men) marooned in the third is not well known, but it is an amazing story of survival. This should be easy for all. Not quite as easy, but very well know to many. The main character became famous. This story is not at all well known, but the shape of the island will help it being found. Google Maps please, or SV if you can find them.

Congratulations to those that found the island (hhgygy), or even some of the island (Utapao and krenek). It appears that this is none too easy, going on the number of views, so here is a clue: If you Google for "famous marooned" or "famous castaways" they are all in the lists that appear! In the case of the third location, Google has been there with their trek-view camera, and also there are three+ blue dots.

This one was more difficult that I had expected, so Very Well Found to hhgygy, and well found to others who located some of the islands. For anyone still interested, the answer to this one is here : 1. This is Alexander Selkirk Island, which is located here.A little of the man Alexander Selkirk can be read here.2. This is Kasolo Island, otherwise known as Kennedy Island after John F. Kennedy. The island is located here. The event involving Kennedy can be read here.3. This is New Island, which is located here.A brief story relating to a Captain Charles Barnard can be read here.Fuller accounts can be found in several other places on the web. Also, Google has been here with their trek-camera and there are other good images of the island. Well done every one.

Like krenek, I went to the group of islands several times, based on the story. I guess I didn't read well enough to see he left one island for the other, so I didn't scout the neighboring islands!
