Hi all. I'm very disheartened to imagine the beloved GE without the millions of beautiful user georeferenced panoramio images. Panoramio as you'll be aware has gone into 'standby mode' until Nov 17 when its dumped for eternity. Some users will migrate their stuff across to Google Maps where imagery will be basically invisible or Local Guides which images will only be clipped basically to businesses. Maybe there may be a link from one of these depauperate sources to GE? In the meantime, I'd desperately love to find some way to atchive the amazing array of images, loaded sometimes from remote etjic villagers in rural communes, right through to the popular tourist destinations. These are free, open, provide an incredible record of humanity at the turn of our century, and bring the Google Earth globe to life.
Any thoughts? Is it possible? Anyone know a rich or powerful philanthropist lol!? This would be a travesty to let go and just walk away from. Pls help!

Hello, maliyan. I feel your pain and I have no answers. It is, indeed, a great disappointment to walk away from the Panoramio photographers' massive contribution to Google Earth over the years. Often, the only way I found an exact location I was searching for was to look at the photos in the general area. I don't have any answers for you, but there was a rather vague suggestion that the photos will remain on Google Earth. However, many photographers have already deleted their Pano accounts and taken their photos elsewhere, so some of the icons are empty when clicked.
