This is my first post on this forum, so hi everybody!
I am pretty sure that this is not the right place on this forum to ask this question, but for lack of finding a better place, I post here. I also posted this over at the Google Map forum: productforums.google.com/forum/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=footer#!topic/maps/SSdmbBFacqg;context-place=forum/maps (sorry, that link has to be copied and pasted, doesn;t work because of the bang (!) in the URL...)
I am trying to prep a photo shoot of the mega moon on Monday.
To do this, I am trying to see the moon in Google Earth / Google Earth Pro. When I run the timeline with "Show sunlight across the landscape" switched on, I can see the sun passing by when I scrub the timeline. But not the moon...
Why can't we see the moon passing by? Is there a way to visualize the moon?
I found a post here: www.quora.com/How-can-I-see-Mars-and-the-Moon-from-the-Google-Earth-app-when-using-a-phone-or-tablet
They describe to link/add a database with the moon information. But the "Add Database" menu point has been removed, or is not there on the PC (Windows).
Maybe you know of another software that would do this? I tried The Photographer's Ephemeris and Stellarium. But both don't help much. As the Photographer's Ephemeris is "only" showing the map in 2D and the Stellarium is using a generic image without the actual landscape data.
It would be prefect in Google Earth, if only the moon would be visible just like the sun when "Show sunlight across the landscape" is switched on. Something obvious to me, but apparently not to the Google Earth developers (Kappa).
Any help would be really appreciated!
Thanks,
Alex
