Hello, zero longitude is (should) be located in Greenwich observatory. In fact ib Google earth it is located 30 metes east of the observatory, that is about 1 to 2 seconds of arc East. I found the same problem when meridian enters France in Viller sur mer. Who is wrong ? Who sould I trust to build a meridian wall to get solar noon along zero meridian ? Should we ask Google to fix the accuracy problem ? Thanks for your comments and suggestions. Regards J.B.

Hi jcqs , See HERE for the explanation I received when I had the opportunity to ask that question of Michael Jones (aka Seer), one of the original developers of the Google Earth program.

Hi jcqs , See HERE for the explanation I received when I had the opportunity to ask that question of Michael Jones (aka Seer), one of the original developers of the Google Earth program. Thank you for your answer. Now I have another problem. The stone marking Greewich meridian in Villers cannot be moved to follow the actual virtual meridian. The alternate solution is to indicate the date the meridain was passing by the stone. How can we determine that date geographically speaking ? Regards, J. B.

Sorry, I can't help you with this question. There's a lot of information in English Wikipedia HERE and HERE about the history of various locations for the prime meridian, but I didn't see any specific dates that might answer your question. French Wikipedia seemed to have less information, but I suspect if you keep searching around on the internet, you can find the dates you're looking for.
