can i update default images from 2005 to 2012.

i was wondering can you update the images when loading up google earth, like right now when i load up google earth it shows historic images from 2005 default. yet when i use that historic images timer slide it show new images from 2012 for the area. i wonder if i can update so that when i load up google earth it show 2012 images? 

Hi, at the moment the answer is no, but that may change in future updates. GE imagery defaults to the "Best" resolution available, but gives the option to use the historic slider as you have found out.
