First ever post here, so be nice, please.
I have a deep and dividing interest in World War II history. So, using an aerial photo from 1945 of Hunters Point (southeast of San Francisco, CA) that I found on Wikimedia Commons, I made an image overlay to compare with present day. I think I got the alignment right. It's interesting to see how the shoreline has changed in places and what buildings remain from that era. Let me know your thoughts or if you are interested in more! Looks like you nailed the overlay! I completely agree that overlaying historical images is one of the most useful ways that Google Earth can enhance historical understanding. Come back with more of that good stuff!
By the way, were you aware that the earliest Historical Imagery for Hunter Point goes all the way back to August of 1938?
